What Is Latency?

The time it takes a data packet to travel from source to destination and back.

Latency, often measured in milliseconds (ms), is mainly affected by the physical distance between two network points. When using a VPN, choosing a server closer to your real location significantly reduces the added latency. It's especially critical for time-sensitive activities like online gaming.
